The Art of Transporting Art
2022 · Video Art · Field Recording
The Museum of Russian Impressionism presents The Art of Transporting Art, a special project prepared in partnership with the art logistics company Fineartway.
This conceptual continuation of the exhibition Avant-Garde: On a Cart to the 21st Century, reveals the processes that remain out of sight for visitors — from the packaging and transportation of paintings to the installation and dismantling of expositions.
On the third floor of the museum there are interactive objects and works by the contemporary artists Misha Most, Valery Chtak, Jacob Yakubov and Grigory Tsvetkov.
For the exhibition, two video art projects were created, specifically designed to explore the themes of art transportation and packaging.
Video Art "Unpacking Sound", 2 minutes 55 seconds
In "Unpacking Sound", the artist captures the behind-the-scenes process of packing and unpacking art objects in a museum.
Using Field Recording techniques, sounds like bolts being unscrewed, foam being cut, and paper being unwrapped are recorded, transforming these utilitarian actions into a rhythmic and dynamic composition.
This process is reinterpreted through multi-screen visuals and looping fragments, where each action becomes part of a synchronized audiovisual rhythm.
By focusing on the minutiae of these gestures, the work reveals the hidden tempo and choreography of preservation, creating a new perspective on the interaction between humans and art objects.
3D animation "Unpacking", 1 minute 8 seconds
A video art featuring an endless array of unpacking boxes by Fineartway.
The more you try to penetrate the essence of things, the more you realize that this process can be infinite.
This work reflects the idea of searching for hidden meanings and the impossibility of finding them.
